Sewerage system, wastewater treatment plant and river simulation in planning and research projects. The simulations helped to dimension and to estimate the system capacity. Further more the effects of different parts of the whole system (wastewater treatment plant, sewerage system and rivers) on each other and the effects on the environment (emissions and immission) could be examined. For sewerage system simulation hydrodynamical and hydrological models were used. Depending on the problem pure hydraulic simulation (water flow, water level) was carried out or the pollution load was considered.

Martina Scheer has experiences with the programs DYNA (and Kanal++), HYSTEM-EXTRAN,MOMENT and SMUSI. The wastewater treatment plant simulations were carried out with SIMBA. The river simulations were based on MATLAB and SIMULINK.
